ISPM 15 Certified Crate

ISPM 15 Certification

Need certified heat-treated wood packaging?
Contact us today for ISPM 15-compliant solutions tailored to your export needs.

ISPM 15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15) is a regulation established by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) to ensure that wood packaging materials over 6mm thickness, used in international trade, are properly treated. Its main goal is to stop the spread of harmful pests and plant diseases across borders. Wood from live or dead trees can carry bugs or diseases, so using untreated or raw wood for packaging can spread harmful pests to other places. Because of this, ISPM 15 requires all wood packaging (such as pallets, crates, and dunnage) to be heat treated or fumigated, and marked with an internationally recognized stamp of compliance, often referred to as the “heat stamping.”

When wood is "ISPM 15 certified," it means the wood has been treated and stamped to show it’s safe for cross-border shipping.

Treatment Method

ISPM 15 Heat Treatment (HT) for Wood Packaging (Wood Fumigation)

What is Heat Treatment?

Heat Treatment (HT) is an internationally recognized method under ISPM 15 for the safe export of wood packaging materials, including pallets, crates, dunnage, and wooden boxes. Heat treatment involves heating the wood to a minimum core temperature of 56°C for at least 60 minutes. This process eliminates harmful pests and organisms, ensuring that the wood is safe for international shipping and meets phytosanitary regulations.

Key Benefits of Heat Treatment
  • Chemical-Free: No pesticides or chemicals used.
  • Globally Accepted: Approved by over 80 countries.
  • Eco-Friendly & Sustainable
The ISPM 15 Stamp

Once the wood is heat treated, we stamp it with the official ISPM 15 mark, which includes:

  • The IPPC logo
  • A country code (like "AE" for UAE)
  • Our License number - 061
  • The treatment type – you'll see HT

AUS-Treat BMSB Certification

Shipping to Australia/New Zealand?
Let us handle your BMSB treatment and certification hassle-free.

If you're shipping goods to Australia or New Zealand — especially during certain months of the year — you’ll need to make sure your cargo is treated for BMSB (Brown Marmorated Stink Bug), a serious pest threat to agriculture. That’s where Austreat BMSB Certification comes in.

What Is BMSB?

The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug is an invasive pest known to damage a wide range of crops, including fruits, vegetables, and ornamental plants. It can also be a nuisance in homes and other buildings.

What Is Austreat?

Austreat is Australia’s official pre-border treatment approval scheme for managing BMSB risk. It ensures that all treatments done outside Australia (like heat treatment) meet strict Aussie biosecurity standards.

Key Requirements
  • Treatment Providers: Must be registered under the Austreat scheme and listed as approved on DAFF's List of Treatment Providers.
  • Treatment Methods: Approved methods include the heat treatment method.
  • Documentation: All treatment certificates, records of treatments, and other relevant data must be submitted into DAFF's treatment certificate portal.
What We Offer
  • Certified Heat Treatment
  • BMSB Treatment Certificates and necessary documents uploaded to Australia’s official portal
Why It Matters

If goods arrive in Australia or New Zealand without the required Austreat BMSB treatment:

  • They may be denied discharge from the vessel.
  • They could be directed for export on arrival.
  • They may be subject to increased onshore intervention, including inspection to verify that the treatment has been carried out effectively.

Fumigation Services

Container Fumigation

Container fumigation using aluminum phosphide, the most commonly approved fumigant in the UAE. This method ensures the complete elimination of all life stages of pests — from eggs to adults — through a safe and effective gas-based treatment.

How It Works

Aluminum phosphide is applied in solid form (tablets, pellets, or plates) and, when exposed to moisture and heat inside a gas-tight enclosure, it releases phosphine gas (PH₃). This dry disinfection process penetrates deep into cargo to neutralize all forms of pest infestation.

  • Minimum exposure time: 72 hours at temperatures above 21°C
  • Extended exposure (cold seasons): 5–7 days
  • Phytosanitary compliance: A fumigation certificate is issued, essential for obtaining a Phytosanitary Certificate for export shipments.

Stack Fumigation

Stack fumigation using Aluminum Phosphide tablets, the product can either be delivered to our facility or treated at your site by our trained personnel. The area and floor around the stack must be thoroughly cleaned to ensure an effective fumigation process. The stack is then completely covered with gas-tight plastic sheeting, with the edges secured using weights to prevent leakage.

A small incision is made in the plastic to insert the aluminum phosphide tablets, after which the cut is sealed tightly with tape. The enclosure is then sealed completely to contain the gas, and the stack is left undisturbed for three days. After the fumigation period, the plastic cover is carefully removed, and the area is ventilated thoroughly to safely disperse any remaining phosphine gas.
